Chiropractic
Chiropractic
is a natural method of health care that restores and promotes proper
structural alignment and function to the body. Nerves extend outward
from areas between each vertebrae to supply the extremities and internal
organs. When the vertebrae are out of place, nerve function is diminished.
By realigning the spine and other structural joints, overall function
is improved.
Nerve
function serves to support our bodies with muscle movement, blood
and oxygen supply and as a central communication line. Even our hormones
and emotions can be affected by improper alignment of the spine.
You may
also hear the term subluxation, which refers to improperly
aligned vertebrae. The method used to realign the spine we call a
chiropractic adjustment. The adjustment gently restores proper alignment
to the joints of the spine.
There
are many causes of a subluxation. Some of these causes include a fall,
trauma, injury, poor posture, improper sleeping habits and poor working
conditions. In other cases, a preexisting subluxation may cause or
exacerbate problems. Which comes first, the chicken or the egg? Whichever
comes first, chiropractic adjustments help to restore the body to
a healthier functioning system.
