What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture  is an ancient healing technique that has been practiced for thousands of years.  It works by stimulating energy meridians (channels) in the body, helping to restore balance and promote the natural flow of Qi (vital energy).  When Qi becomes stagnant, blockages can occur,  leading to pain and disharmony, which may manifest as symptoms like anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, PMS, and menopausal concerns such as hot flashes and night sweats.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

On your first visit, a thorough intake and diagnosis will be conducted.  This includes discussing your primary concern, reviewing related body systems, and gathering a complete health history.  In addition, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) utilizes tongue and pulse diagnosis to assess patterns of imbalance and gain deeper insight into your overall health

What to Expect During Treatment

During an acupuncture session, specific points are selected based on the condition being treated.  Often, multiple concerns can be addressed in a single session, making acupuncture a powerful and efficient tool for overall health and well-being.

Acupuncture needles are extremely thin-much finer than standard medical needles.  In many cases, they are not felt at all upon insertion, though some areas may be more sensitive than others.  Any discomfort is typically minimal and subsides quickly.  If you feel anything unusual, adjustments can be made to ensure your comfort.

Each needle is used only once and is immediately disposed of in a sharps container for safety and hygiene.

Patients are encouraged to relax during treatment, as a calm and restful state enhances the benefits of acupuncture.  To support this, we create a soothing environment with gentle music, aromatherapy, and a warm, caring atmosphere, allowing you to fully unwind and experience the healing process.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy involves placing round cups on the skin, where they create suction to promote circulation and encourage the body's natural healing process.  The cups remain in place for a specific amount of time, determined by the practitioner based on your individual needs.

This suction helps draw stagnant blood to the surface, which is why circular reddish-purple marks may appear after a session.  These marks indicate areas where blood flow has been restricted for an extended period.  The darker the marks, the more stagnation and toxins were present before treatment.

Cupping may also support the lymphatic system, aiding in the removal of toxins and metabolic waste.  It can be an effective way to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and support the body's natural healing process, helping to restore balance and overall well-being.
